This note is being emailed out to previous campers on August 10:

Hi 2010 CSC Campers,

We are excited to announce details for the 2011 College Softball Camp, January 8-9. We hope your softball plans include attending this year.

2011 Date

You may notice, the dates for the camp are a week later than the three previous years of this camp. The 2010-20011 NCAA softball recruiting calendar has January 1 listed as a quite period. That then forces us to move to the next weekend. In the past, that may have been a problem for Louisiana high school players, but this year, the LHSAA has moved back the start of the official high school softball season till January 17, so there is no conflict with attending the camp.

Registration

Registration is now open. The camp flyer, application, and medical release are attached to this note. You can also download these files from the camp website: www.collegesoftballcamp.com There is also a short camp video on the website, an ideal way for your friends to see quickly what the camp looks like.

Marketing

Registration has opened a full two months earlier than years past. Last year, we had close to 250 campers. The camp has sold out in advance all three years, and based on the registrations already received, plus a big increase of whole teams registering, we expect it to sell out again. The marketing of the camp is starting with this note to past campers. In the coming days, the announcement will be sent to all high school softball coaches in Louisiana, Mississippi & Alabama and the travel fastpitch communities throughout the Gulf South. If you plan to attend, don’t put off getting registered early, and pass this announcement along to any teammates you think might be interested.

College Coach Staff

The staff will be representing over 25 universities from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. In previous years, our ratio of campers to college coaches has been around 9 to 1. The coaches are excited to be returning to the camp, and again have provided valuable input into the camp format.

Schedule

A detailed camp schedule for both Saturday and Sunday will be published in November. The camp will start earlier on Saturday, providing campers with a busy 17 hours over two days spent with the coach staff. We will be using six fields at the Coquille Complex, the Sandlot indoor batting facility, and the indoor arena. A school bus will be on hand to assist with transportation down the street.

Format

Saturday will focus on skills instruction from the camp staff. Sunday, the college coaches will supervisor a controlled scrimmage that will feature them hitting infield/outfield with runners, as well as live hitting and fielding during game action.

Pitching

CSC is excited to announce that nationally noted biomechanist Dr. Sherry Werner will be on the camp staff this year to work with pitchers on training and bio mechanics of safe and efficient pitching mechanics. Watch the website in the next month for details about this segment of the camp.

Coach Clinic

Plans are to return the free coach clinic utilizing the coaches on the camp staff for any high school, travel, and recreational softball coach. Details will be posted on the website in November with the day, time, and agenda.

Sunday Worship

A number of the college coaches have asked for a time slot and location to conduct a voluntary Fellowship of Christian Athletes worship early on Sunday. Watch for details in the coming months.

Hope to see you again.
